Ayodhya International Airport: Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport.
Recently the new international airport called “Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport” is constructed and all the services will start from 6 January 2024. This will connect all the major cities in India like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. So this will become the fasted way to reach Ayodhya from major cities in India.
Railway: Ayodhya Dham Junction.
The railway station is completely revamped on the theme of Ayodhya Ram Mandir, a Nagara style of architecture. The name of junction also renamed from Ayodhya Junction to Ayodhya Dham Junction.
Double railway lines, electrification, a larger platform, more restrooms, lounges, dorms, and a new ticket office are among its contemporary amenities. The “Ayodhya Dham Junction” is 35 acres in size with 11,414.68 square meters of built-up area.
The terminal, a shell-structure that will eventually cover the railroad lines, will resemble lotus petals and contain skylights and alternating solid sections to let plenty of natural light into the complex. It also serves as a symbolic representation of India’s national flower.

1. From New Delhi to Ayodhya by Air (DEL to AYJ):
The fasted way to reach Ayodhya from Delhi is by air. You will get flights from 6th January 2024. The booking of tickets is already started on many online sites, like MakeMyTrip, Cleartrip, ixigo etc. I tried to book a ticket today (29th Dec 2023). Here is the detail that I got on ixigo:
So, currently there are 2 flights from New Delhi to Ayodhya (DEL to AYJ) at 10:00 am and 11:55 am. That will reach Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport at 11:22 am and 1:15 pm respectively. It will take near about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
2. By Train (Delhi to Ayodhya):
The cheapest way to reach Ayodhya from Delhi is via train. It will take 10 to 12 hours depending upon the selected trains. There are number of trains available out of which there are 3 weekly trains to Ayodhya depart from Delhi. Weekly trains to Ayodhya depart from Delhi as follows:
1. FARAKKA EXP (13484),
2. ANVT RXL EXP (14018),
3. SARYUYAMUNA EXP (14650).

- Running on: All week days except Wednesday.
- Major Stations: Kanpur Central and Lucknow Nr.
- Returning Train Number: 22425.
3. By Bus (New Delhi to Ayodhya):
There are multiple buses running from Delhi to Ayodhya. The ticket price is ranging from 700 to 1500 per person depending upon the type of bus you select. There are multiple locations from where you can pick up your bus. The major bus pickup pints are:
- ISBT Kashmiri Gate
- Akshardham Metro Station
- Morigate
- Anand Vihar
- Mayur Vihar
4. By Bus from New Delhi – Lucknow – Ayodhya
There is another option to go Ayodhya from Delhi. You can first take a bus from Delhi to Lucknow and then from Lucknow to Ayodhya. In this case the number of buses will be very high. The total estimated time in this condition will be approx. 11h 10mins.
5. New Delhi to Lucknow by Air and Lucknow to Ayodhya by Car:
Another second fasted way to go Ayodhya from Delhi is via Lucknow with Flight. In this case the number of flights will be very high and you will have more options to select from all available flights. The time it will take approx. 1h and 10mins.
From Lucknow you have to hire a car for Ayodhya. It will take approx. 2h and 30mins.
6. New Delhi to Lucknow by Bus and from Lucknow to Ayodhya by Car.
The another break journey via road will be, first go to Lucknow from Delhi and from there hire a car for Ayodhya. It will take approx. 5h and 22mins by Bus from Delhi to Lucknow and 2h 25mins from Lucknow to Ayodhya by Car.
7. New Delhi to Lucknow by Train and from Lucknow to Ayodhya by Bus:
You can also plan a break journey from Delhi to Lucknow by Train. You will get a number of trains for this. It will take the average time of 8h and 10mins. The average time taken by Bus will be 2h 16m from Lucknow to Ayodhya.
8. New Delhi to Lucknow by Air and from Lucknow to Ayodhya by Bus:
I also explained in point number 5, that the number from flights will be higher for Delhi to Lucknow in comparison with Delhi to Ayodhya directly. Since the Ayodhya airport is new. It will take approx. 1h 10mins via air from Delhi to Lucknow.
Now from Lucknow you can take a Bus for Ayodhya. The average time will be 2h and 26mins.
9. New Delhi to Lucknow and from Lucknow to Ayodhya via Bus:
You can do a break journey by Bus from Delhi to Lucknow and the Lucknow to Ayodhya. The overall time will be approx. 11h and 10mins. From Delhi to Lucknow by Bus will take approx. 5h and 20mins and from Lucknow to Ayodhya will take approx. 2h 52mins.
10. New Delhi to Agra by Car and from Agra to Ayodhya by Bus:
There is also another way to go Ayodhya via Agra. First hire a car from Delhi to Agra. It will take approx. 3h and 12mins and from Agra to Ayodhya by Bus. The bus will take approx. 7h and 26mins. So the overall time will be 11h and 38mins approx.
11. New Delhi to Musafirkhana by Train and from Musafirkhana to Ayodhya by Car:
There are few trains running from New Delhi to Musarkhana having train numbers 02392 and 02220 etc. It will take approx . 9h and 55mins. Now from Musafirkhana you can hire a car for Ayodhya. It will take approx. 1h 58mins.
12. New Delhi to Varanasi by Air and from Varanasi to Ayodhya by Train.
There is another flight from Delhi to Varanasi that you can also look for. It will take around 1h and 10mins. From Varanasi to Ayodhya you can take a Train and this will take time approx. 3h 42mins.
